‘Works Affairs’ passes external audit of ISO 9001-2015) in Quality Management

Manama, Oct. 27 (BNA): Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning (Works Affairs) has successfully passed the external audit of the ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System, as part of the ongoing efforts to implement the principles of quality management in various works. The Undersecretary of Works Affairs Engineer, Ahmed A.Aziz Al-Khayat expressed his sincere thanks to all workers in Works affairs for their genuine efforts over the past years, stressing that this achievement signifies the vision of Works Affairs and its efforts to improve the quality of services provided by the Ministry. He added that this certificate is an international recognition of the ability of the Works Affairs to continually improve its services. This, indeed, is in line with international quality standards and is an achievement for all the employees in the ministry. Additionally, this achievement will also encourage all Ministry staff to accomplish the strategic objectives of Works Affairs, which specifically strive to achieve sustainability of services and quality standards in the provision of services according to the best management practices in place. The scope of the audit included the followings: planning, design, construction and maintenance of safe and innovative infrastructure through modern engineering technology, and materials to the public in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The audit was conducted by the Lead Auditor at AJA REGISTRARS, Mr. Mobin Sheikh, who confirmed that the improvement witnessed in Works Affairs is a great achievement. Several business procedures across the ministry have been updated, in addition to conducting several awareness workshops for employees and specialized courses in quality management. The cooperation of all the employees in Works Affairs with the quality team contributed to the achievement of this certificate. The results of the external audit were compliant and free from any comments other than the specific frameworks for this standard certification. The Ministry of Works Affairs has been awarded the ISO 9001 quality management certificate since 2010, because of the continuous efforts of the quality team and the cooperation of all the employees of the ministry. This quality management certificate is renewed annually, in order to achieve Works Affairs vision to strengthen its position as a leading professional organisation providing quality services.
