Gulf Air commended for reinstating employees

Manama, Nov.1(BNA): Labour and Social Development Ministry Undersecretary Sabah Salem Al-Dosary received The Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation (Al Hurr) Executive Council Chairman Yacoub Youssef Mohammed and a number of Gulf Air employees who were laid off. The meeting focused on steps being undertaken to restructure different sections of the national carrier, which led to the laying off of Bahraini and foreign employees. The Undersecretary said the ministry’s efforts has paid off, enabling laid off Bahraini employees to be reinstated and offered voluntary retirement. He stressed the company’s policy which seeks to slash expenditure so as to put the national carrier on the path of profitability, stressing the ministry’s keenness on enforcing the law and national labour legislations and preserving the rights of all parties. He commended Gulf Air board of directors for their decision to reverse the laying off of Bahraini employees, taking into account their family situation. Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation (Al Hurr) Executive Council Chairman Yacoub Youssef Mohammed commended the strenuous efforts which were exerted by the Labour and Social Development Ministry and the Gulf Air board of directors.
