Bahrain-UN-Habitat discuss boosting cooperation

Liverpool, Nov. 2 (BNA): Shaikh Hussam bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Committee of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Award for Sustainable Development, met today with Ms. Mimouna Mohammed Sharif, Director-General of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-HABITAT) on the sidelines of the International Day of Cities 2018, held in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
Shaikh Hussam stressed that the government, under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, assigns great importance to consolidating cooperation with the UN - Habitat Program in all its efforts to boost Bahrain's efforts in the field of development through many initiatives that meet the Kingdom's developmental aspirations. He pointed out that positive cooperation has resulted in many successes, especially that Bahrain has been able to achieve many of the goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in a success story that has won the international community's praise.
Shaikh Hussam bin Issa expressed optimism that the next phase will witness more cooperation between the two sides in support of the goals of sustainable development in the Kingdom and internationally.
The UN-HABITAT Director-General praised the high-level of cooperation between the two sides, which reflects Bahrain's keenness to effectively contribute to supporting international efforts in the area of sustainable development.
She also commended HRH Prime Minister's interest in sustainable development activities at the local, regional and international levels, stressing that his initiatives and awards were a great incentive to support collective and individual efforts aimed at achieving urban and sustainable development.
