Thai DPM meets Chinese counterpart in Beijing

BEIJING, November 6 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak has met his Chinese counterpart in Beijing to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation between the Chinese and the Thai economies, including those in the tourism sector. Somkid, who oversees economic affairs, met his Chinese counterpart Han Zheng in the Chinese capital on Tuesday, during which he informed the latter that the Thai Cabinet has, among other issues, approved new measures to promote the Thai tourism during the ongoing high season to welcome more international tourists, including those from China. According to the Thai deputy prime minister, who is leading a Thai business delegation to visit China during November 3-8, the new measures include a waiver of fees for some types of visa for 21 targeted groups of international tourists, including those from China, and special offers provided by hotels and other accommodation services, as well as airlines in Thailand. Besides, the Thai deputy premier stated, many relevant parties in the Kingdom, including the state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Thai Airways International (THAI), the national flag carrier, and Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), have agreed on their joint campaigns to welcome international visitors to the country.
