MoI: 28 individuals referred to Public Prosecution in forgery case

Manama, Nov. 9 (BNA): Concerning a statement of the Ministry of Interior released on November 6 about the arrest of a gang specialised in forgery, bribery and money laundering crimes, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science announced today that 28 individuals of different nationalities, including government employees, had been referred to the Public Prosecution.
The announcement was out of the dedication of the Ministry of Interior to inform the public of the latest about the security and safety of the community and its responsibility to protect the security and general order.
The gang was specialised in forging passports, travel stamps, visas and resident permits of GCC and foreign countries, through the help of individuals living inside and outside Bahrain. The forged documents were sold for large amounts of money to facilitate the movement of individuals between states. Several passports and visas were forged.
The intense and professional investigation led to the arrest of the gang members, and it took a long time as the group consists of individuals from different nationalities and live in many countries. The collected information was carefully reviewed to reach precise conclusions and identify those involved.
The key suspect was travelling by a Gulf passport and fake name, and he was arrested after his real entity and nationality were revealed.
The search continues for the other members who are outside Bahrain and investigation will resume to identify others involved.
The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science asserted that legal proceedings were taken, and the forged passports, visas and stamps were seized and referred to the Public Prosecution to carry its investigation.
The Ministry of Interior expressed appreciation to the national press and columnists for their positive response to the case out of recognition of the security efforts in tackling the dangerous gang. It also hailed the awareness of Bahraini society and its commitment to the law. It prayed to Allah the Almighty to bless Bahrain with ever-lasting safety.
