National Forum on Promoting Culture of Peace, Cultural Diversity kicks off

Manama, (BNA): The Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARCWH) hosted the National Forum on Promoting Culture of Peace and Cultural Diversity. The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (IESCO), Bahrain National Committee for Education, Science and Culture (BNCESC) and Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) jointly organized the event.
Prior to the launch of the forum, BNCESC Secretary General Dr. Lubna Suleibeekh, in her speech, introduced the participants in the forum as local speakers the BACA’s Director General of Culture and Art, Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, and Constitutional Court’s Director of Media and International relations, Shaikh Khalid bin Isa Al Khalifa.
At the first session, Shaikh Khalid bin Isa Al Khalifa spoke about the civil and democratic foundations on which Bahrain has chosen to rely on to establish the values of citizenship, community peace and respect for cultural diversity. He also tackled the history of democracy in Bahrain, manifestations of legislative and political work in the laws and Constitution of Bahrain.
He said Bahrain enjoys a proper environment for establishing justice and peace, especially in the light of the developments realized under the leadership of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, at the second session, reviewed the role of civil society organizations in disseminating the values of peace and respect for cultural diversity.
She brought up to mind a number of the BACA’s cultural initiatives launched for sustaining the cultural work and raising community awareness.
at the third session a number of papers presented by government representatives, which highlighted efforts to promote the culture of peace and cultural diversity.
The ARCWH yesterday hosted a national seminar on promoting the culture of tolerance in media discourse, which was also jointly organized by IESCO, BNCESC and BACA.
