Airbus presenting innovative technologies at BIAS 2018

Manama, Nov. 14 (BNA): Airbus is participating in the Bahrain International Air Show (BIAS) 2018 at the Sakhir Airbase.
Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamed bin Isa Al Khalifa, BIAS is currently in its fifth edition, and is one of the fastest-growing Airshows in the Middle East.
At the show, Airbus is presenting its products and innovative technologies and delivering Airbus Foundation’s renowned youth development program, Airbus Little Engineer.
Gulf Air became the first national airline in the region to receive and operate Airbus’ leading single aisle aircraft, the A320neo. The aircraft is displayed on Gulf Air’s static display at the show.
The A320 neo Family incorporates the latest technologies, including new generation engines and Sharklets, which together deliver at least 15 per cent fuel savings at delivery and 20 per cent by 2020.
With more than 6,100 orders received from over 100 customers since its launch in 2010, the A320n eo Family has captured some 60 per cent share of the market.
A mock-up of the H145 is displayed at the Saudi Aramco booth. Earlier this year Airbus Helicopters and Milestone Aviation Group Limited announced they will provide five H145s to Aramco Overseas Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, a fully integrated, global petroleum and chemicals enterprise.
The H145 is the aircraft for high intensity operations such as offshore oil and gas transport making it ideal for Aramco’s light-twin fleet renewal programme. More than 200 H145s have been delivered to date and have collectively achieved more than 100,000 flight hours since 2015.
Under the umbrella of the Airbus Foundation and in partnership with Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication, Airbus will hold a series of Airbus Little Engineer workshops for 100 Bahraini students. The initiative aims at inspiring young students to pursue and study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
