Inauguration of King Hamad Chair in Interfaith Dialogue hailed

Manama, Nov. 14 (BNA): Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Programme and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Amine Al-Sharqawi said the inauguration of the King Hamad Chair in Interfaith Dialogue, Peaceful Coexistence came at a time the world is in dire need for such initiatives. He pointed out the role played by religious and doctrinal differences in fanning conflicts. Al-Sharqawi affirmed that the initiative is also important because it targets the youth segment, pointing out the King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) as another contribution to encourage young people to paly a part in sustainable development and contribute to the community. He also noted that HM the King's initiative represents another international contribution for Bahrain to foster global peace and security. He praised Bahrain's successful models in religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence, adding that the King Hamad Chair in Interfaith Dialogue will undoubtedly pave the way to shed light on other successful experiences from around the world as well as unsuccessful ones to draw lessons from them.
