Dilmun Star launches first pre-incubation programme

Manama, Nov. 15 (BNA): Under the patronage of Zayed R. Alzayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Bahrain Fashion Incubator (BFI), Dilmun Star, has launched the first Pre-Incubation Programme in the MENA region. The programme is geared towards fashion designers and organised in strategic partnership with Tamkeen, UNIDO, AICEI, Fashion Technology Accelerator (Italy) and Kingdom of Innovation (a 3D print-provider). Dilmun Star, is a competitive seven-month programme that will provide 20 aspiring fashion designers requisite technical and business tools to start a fashion business. The participants are expected to develop a capsule fashion collection based on one or all of the following themes: technology, sustainability and heritage. To achieve this, they will be offered masterclasses by local and international experts, practical workshops, access to machinery and skilled technicians as well as mentoring. The participants will be able to use the latest in technology such as laser fabric cutting machines, digital printing machines and 3D printing to create their collection. The participants will then be required to pitch their concepts and present their creations to a panel of judges which will include professional industry buyers, and fashion experts. The objective is to showcase local talents in the field of fashion design and prepare them to embark on the entrepreneurial path to start their own fashion label that can compete globally. For that BFI has a special incubation programme. A few seats are left and BFI encourages aspiring fashion designers to apply and benefit from this unique opportunity. Applications deadline: November 18. The successful candidates will be contacted directly. For more info and updates: www.bahrainfashionincubator.com.
