Bahrain welcomes US Senate’s rejection of resolution to block arms sale

Manama, Nov. 16 (BNA): Bahrain has welcomed the US Senate’s rejection with a clear majority of votes of the resolution to block arms sale to the Kingdom. "The Kingdom stresses that this important step is in line with the historic and strong relations between Bahrain and the United States of America, characterised by the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries, and contributes to the security of the region," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. "The ministry expresses its appreciation towards this positive stance that contributes to the security of the Kingdom of Bahrain, highlighting the United States of America’s policy in adhering to the security of the Gulf region, combating terrorism and countering all practices and activities aimed at undermining peace and security in the region." The ministry added that it reiterates its firm position and solidarity with the United States of America in its efforts and initiatives for the establishment of security and peace regionally and internationally.
