ASSOCIATION MUST CONTINUE LEGACY OF CARING FOR THE NEEDY

KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (Bernama) -- The Association for Wives of Cabinet
Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) should continue its legacy of a caring
charitable welfare body for the needy.

"I'm confident that with strong cooperation and team work, Bakti will
emerge as a strong and stable charity body," said its President Jeanne Abdullah
while officiating Bakti's 32nd general meeting, here, Wednesday.

As such, Jeanne who is also the wife of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad
Badawi, said she hoped that the Bakti leadership would continue to deliver their
duties with dedication, sincerity and trustworthiness.

She also called all Bakti members to offer the coffee-table book, showcasing
Bakti's development for 30 years, as a souvenir to foreign leaders.

On Bakti's achievements throughout last year, she said the charity body had
set another milestone when its Semai Bakti Special Programme, which was
initially implemented at community rehabilitation centres in Federal Land
Development Authority (Felda) settlements, expanded to every state in the
country.
