Massive turnout seen at airport polling station

Manama, Nov. 24 (BNA): Voters queued up at the General Polling and Sorting Station at Bahrain International Airport in Muharraq Governorate in order to cast ballots and choose their representatives in Bahrain’s fifth quadrennial parliamentary and municipal elections 2018. They turned out in large numbers both men and women, youth and elderly starting from the early morning hours before the ballot boxes were opened at 8 am. Judge Haroon Al Zayani, Polling Station Supervisor at Bahrain International Airport told Bahrain News Agency (BNA) that the ballot casting process was smoothly progressing. He said that new lanes have been added, including a special lane for passengers, and another for the airport employees. The massive turnout mirrors the citizens’ keenness on exercising their constitutional right of casting their ballot and reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s democratic progress. All the necessary preparations were in place including the provision of wheelchairs and assistance to the elderly and disabled to enable them to conveniently participate in the democratic process.
