CSB holds training workshop

Manama, Nov. 26 (BNA): The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) has held a training course on the best application of Civil Service Instructions 6/2017.
The training aims to develop the performance management system for employees of human resources directorates in government entities and enhances the cognitive skills participants require to work on the optimal application of the performance management system. "Adaa" was designed to suit all government entities subject to the Civil Service Bureau in the Kingdom of Bahrain, to help them manage employee performance in a fair and unified manner.
Fareed Abdulrahman Abdullah, Director of Employee Performance & Relations Directorate explained the importance of this course. The course focuses on developing the skills of interpreting and analyzing legal texts related to the performance management system, which aims to develop the skills of those who implement this system by providing participants with legal skills that help them read and understand legal texts, legal framework and its proper understanding. This contributes in proper application of the system.
It also contributes understanding mechanisms to address and manage problems that may arise in the assessment of the work environment, and solve them legally. This can be achieved by identifying what and how to analyze, and introducing the strategies, and steps of the stages of its application in the cycle of performance, as well as introducing tools to assist in the implementation process.
He added that the system focuses on managing job performance in the civil service sector of the Government of Bahrain to achieve the desired results from all employees.
The system aims to create a competitive environment related to career advancement and rewards based on achievements, abilities and personal skills, and encourage regular and constructive communication and dialogue between employees and their direct administrators. Furthermore, the system also aims at identifying weaknesses in employee performance, develop performance improvement plans, support and encourage continuous learning, development and boosting productivity. He pointed out that about 47,000 civil service employees are assessed annually.
It is noteworthy that the Civil Service Bureau held a dialogue session in July 2018 to discuss the measurement of the effectiveness of implementing Performance Management System (Performance) for the year 2017. The workshop was organized within the procedures of governance of the performance system. Where intensive consultations with the participants in the application of the system took place to determine the optimal implementation plan through clear stages, according to a timetable and target dates aimed at assessing the system through the adoption of mutual steps by all sides. The system assessment is based on the role and responsibility of each entity under the supervision of the CSB .
