54 families' municipal fees slashed

Manama, Nov. 28 (BNA): At the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf, has issued a ministerial decision reducing the municipal fees of 54 Bahraini families. Pursuant to Municipalities Law 35/2001 amended by Law 38/2001, and its Executive Code issued as per Cabinet Resolution 16/2002 viz. Paragraph Article 48/B of the said regulation, and upon presentation by the general directors of the municipalities, it was decided to cut the municipal fees for 54 Bahraini families, said the minister. He affirmed that the ministry is continuously taking measures to alleviate the cost of living for the citizens to achieve the sustainable development and enhance the living standards to reflect positively on the citizens’ livelihood. The ministerial decision was issued in harmony with the aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa regarding the provision of decent living to all citizens, alleviating the onus of living costs by cutting the municipal fees to meet the needs of citizens, according to the minister. He added that the ministry seeks to dedicate all the potentials and resources in order to uplift the living standard of the citizens by cutting the municipal fees of the citizens. There is ongoing coordination between the Municipalities Affairs and the Customer Affairs directorates at the Ministry of Electricity & Water Affairs to adjust the municipal fees of these families in their relevant bills in implementation of the ministerial decision, he unveiled.
