Bahrain's Information Minister calls for unifying stances to defend Islamic causes

Manama, Nov. 29 (BNA): Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi today received Assistant Director General Zayed Sultan Abdullah of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) and reviewed boosting cooperation among the OIC member states’ news agencies to establish a unified media stance to defend justice Islamic rights and causes, chiefly the Palestinian cause. Bahrain News Agency (BNA)’s Director General Ahmed Al Manai was also present.  The Information Minister highlighted the significance of boosting media cooperation and exchange of news and information among Arab and Islamic news agencies to strengthen friendship relations, preserve the cultural identity and counter malicious campaigns targeting Arab and Islamic nations' historical identity, security and stability.  The Minister called for reinforcing Islamic consolidation to further boosting joint stances to face discourses of hatred, racism and islamophobia, in addition to take on responsibilities to stand by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to counter the campaigns of defamation and distortion aimed at weakening its leading role and honourable stances in support of Arab and Islamic nations and in the service of humanity.  Abdullah praised the minister’s interest in boosting cooperation among Islamic news agencies, keenness to disseminate Islamic values of moderation and tolerance and rejecting discord and hatred, in addition to accentuating the Islamic development achievements in various global forums.
