HM King of Bahrain hails Bahraini voters

Manama, Dec.3 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa hailed the efforts exerted by the High Elections Committee, which supervised the first round and run-off parliamentary and municipal polls. This came as he received, at Al-Safriya Palace, Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa, Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister and Chairman of the High Elections Committee as well as committee members. The voter turn-out reached 67% in the parliamentary elections and 70% in the municipal polls, reflecting the probity, freedom of choice and massive participation which marked the elections. HM the King commended the strenuous efforts exerted by the committee chairman and panel members to ensure the success of the elections. He lauded the role of the Bahraini independent judiciary to supervise the elections and ensure its safety, hailing the good preparations and organisation. He paid tribute to conscious-minded Bahraini voters who exercised their constitutional right in choosing their representatives to assume their duties, serve Bahrain and consolidate its democratic march. . HM the King hailed the success of many young candidates in winning parliamentary seats in the parliament, hailing Bahraini women who increased their presence in the Council of Representatives and Municipal Councils, thanks to their merit and competence as full-fledged partners in achieving national sustainable development. He stressed the determination of Bahrain and its people to pursue the path of Shura and democracy, looking forward to attaining further success in assuming responsibilities and achieving desired goals. The minister expressed deepest thanks to HM the King for commending the efforts of the high committee in charge of supervising the parliamentary and municipal elections. He congratulated HM the King on the landmark success of the elections, which reflected the national determination, at its best, to answer the call of duty. He paid tribute to Bahraini people, hailing their political awareness to strengthen the democratic project, under the reform project led by HM the King.
