Bahrain's Shura Council hails GCC Summit outcome

Manama, Dec.9(BNA): The Shura Council hailed the good outcome of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, which reflects the Gulf leaders’ keenness on continuing joint work to achieve development and prosperity and strengthen stability. It commended the statement issued by the 39th GCC Summit, hailing the directives aimed at promoting complementary economic and removing obstacles and difficulties curbing the joint resolutions which aim at achieving economic unity by 2025. The Shura Council commended the directives to set up the unified military command, the establishment of the GCC academy for strategic and security studies to achieve complementary security, combat extremism and foster the values of moderation and tolerance, pluralism and human rights, in addition to promoting commitment to the rule of the law and justice, which stem from Islamic precepts as well as genuine longstanding Arab traditions. It stressed the GCC leader’s approach to elaborate a unified foreign policy to protect joint interests and achievements and steer of the Arabian Gulf from regional and international conflicts and strengthen strategic partnerships, economic, cultural cooperation and political and security coordination with friendly countries. The Shura Council backed the GCC leaders in their firm reject of any attempts to target the Arabian Gulf unity, subvert their standing and target their achievements.
