Malaysia's Melaka Eyes Investors In High-Tech, Innovation Industry
MELAKA (Malaysia), Dec 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s Melaka state government is striving to attract more investments in the high technology and innovation industry, especially from developed countries such as Europe and Japan to drive the growth of the industry in the state.
State Industrial, Commerce and Investment Committee Chairman Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen said the effort would enable technology transfers and create more skilled local workers capable of operating high-tech machinery.
“Investments in high technology and innovation usually involve the construction of factories in the state, thus creating jobs for the locals,” he told reporters after the Companies Commission of Malaysia’s (CCM) Bizgrant 2018 Handing Over Ceremony here Thursday.
Mohd Rafiq said the state government is in the midst of developing additional incentives to attract local and foreign investors in the industry.
“We are working together with several states which have been successful in the investment and industrial sectors such as Johor, Penang and Selangor to find out the types of incentives they offer to investors, and we will look into offering similar incentives so that we can compete,” he said.
