100 Years, 14 Portraits expo opens

Manama, (BNA): An art exhibition highlighting the history of Al-Hidaya Al-Khalifia School opened today under the patronage of Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passport and Residence Affairs (NPRA) Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Honorary Chairman of Bahrain Arts Society. Themed "100 Years, 14 Portraits", the exhibition is the brainchild of artist Buthaina Fakhro, who spearheaded the expo that sheds light on the history of the Al-Hidaya Al-Khalifia School and pays tribute to those who contributed to Bahrain’s nation-building. Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa thanked Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for patronizing the event, stressing the importance of bolstering the cultural infrastructure in the city of Muharraq. "100 Years, 14 Portraits", which runs until the 16th of January, will open from 10:00 am to 05:00 pm at the Al-Hidaya Al-Khalifia School. It features 14 artworks, each paying homage to a leading personality that contributed to establishing the Al-Hidaya Al-Khalifia School in 1919. Trailblazing students who graduated from the iconic school, which opened its doors a century ago, held top administrative, economic and cultural positions in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
