HM King of Bahrain receives DERASAT chairman

Manama, Dec. 30(BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa has today received, at Al-Sakhir Palace, Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies "DERASAT" Board of Trustees’ Chairman, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, who submitted the National Human Development Report (2015-2018), which was compiled by Derasat in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). HM the King commended the efforts which were exerted to compile the National Human Development Report. He also valued the efforts of DERASAT board of trustees to promote scientific research, contribute to human development and explore future prospects. He commended the value of the report that raises varied issues, features objective data and provides constructive recommendations which represent important indicators to assess procedures, promote best practices to consolidate institutional efficiency, optimize the use of resources and measure the progress attained in terms of competitiveness, sustainability and justice. HM the King said Bahrain’s internationally-recognized strides stem from a comprehensive national vision that gives the priority to promoting people and fostering knowledge through sustainable development. He highlighted Bahrain’s strides in bolstering the rule of the law, promoting the quality of basic services and enhancing citizens’ standards of living, in compliance with the objectives enshrined in the National Action Charter, constitution and world-standard national legislations. HM the King said that Bahrain ranks among countries which are most committed to the noble and lofty goals featuring in the founding charter of the United Nations. He said that investment in human resources represents one of the key national priorities, describing citizens as the cornerstone of development and its ultimate goal. He stressed the importance of pursuing strenuous efforts to engage youth in decision-making and support new generations, which will play a pivotal role in building Bahrain’s bright and prosperous future. DERASAT" Board of Trustees’ Chairman, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa said that he was honoured to present the National Human Development Report (2015-2018) to HM the King. He paid tribute to HM the King, hailing royal keenness on promoting scientific research and bolstering the role of strategic thinking in decision-making. He valued royal remarks and directives regarding the report content and DERASAT strategy in building competences and partnerships and holding events aimed at instilling the culture of peace and development. He said that the launch of the National Human Development Report (2015-2018) coincides with the tenth anniversary of the 2030 Economic Vision, as one of the fruits of HM the King’s reform project. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa extended thanks to all the partners who contributed efficiently and positively to issuing the National Human Development Report (2015-2018). He underlined the performance and work of the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies "DERASAT" which ranks among the best think tanks in the Middle East. He hailed the royal farsighted approach as a catalyst to exert all efforts towards consolidating Bahrain's development and progress and optimizing landmark achievements.
