M'SIAN DPM'S MOTHER TO RECEIVE HONORARY Ph.D FROM UUM
ALOR SETAR (Malaysia), March 23 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Najib
Razak's mother, Rahah Mohd Noah, will be conferred an honorary Doctor of
Philosophy (Education) at Universiti Utara Malaysia's (UUM) 22nd convocation on
March 28.
UUM Universiti Utara Malaysia (English: Northern University of Malaysia)
(UUM), is a public university located in the town of Sintok, in northern Kedah
state in Peninsular Malaysia.
UUM deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and Internationalisation) Prof Dr Abdul
Razak Chik said the conferment was in conjunction with the university's silver
jubilee and in honour of Rahah's contribution to social development.
"As a prominent woman who is also the chancellor of Universiti Tun Abdul
Razak, Tun Rahah deserves this award (from UUM)," he told reporters, here,
Sunday.
He said besides Rahah, Tan Sri Khalid Abdullah would also be conferred an
honorary Ph.D (Communication), while former UUM deputy vice-chancellor Prof
Dr Mohd Nawi Abdul Rahman would be made Professor Emeritus.
At this year's convocation from March 28 to 30, 4,597 graduands will receive
their scrolls. Out of this figure, nine will receive the Ph.D, 595 their
Master's degree and 3,993, the Bachelor's degree.
Abdul Razak said for the first time, UUM would see 20 graduating with the
Master's degree in Business Administration (Supply Chain Management), 21 with
the Bachelor's degree in Industrial Statistics and 18, the Diploma in
Correctional Science.
He said 56 graduands would also receive gold medals and book prizes for
their excellent performance.
