Darell Wants To Take Advantage From US-China Trade War

SEREMBAN (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia) Jan 8 (Bernama) – The International Trade and Industry Minister Darell Leiking wants the country to take advantage from US and China trade war to attract investors to set up base in Malaysia. According to him, due to trade war between Washington and Beijing, many companies have shifted their operations and sought Malaysia as their new investment destination. “At the same time, there are industries that left Malaysia for other countries like China, but came back to the country (Malaysia) and this is a good sign. When they come, we have to ensure they are taken care of and we must make it easy for them, be it new or returning investors,” he said here Tuesday. The minister was met by the media after attending a meeting with the state government. Also present in the meeting was Negeri Sembilan chief minister Aminuddin Harun. The ministry according to him had received a lot of enquiries from investors which wanted to return to Malaysia, but declined to divulge further details. “The world is about competing with each other and the competition about what we bring in and how we bring in, but we must also choose what type of industry we want bring in (to Malaysia),” he said. The Ministry of International Trade and Industry said Darell, would help the state to promote Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 as part of ministry’s drive to attract potential foreign investors.
