Standing Deputy PM meets US guest

(KPL) Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Standing Deputy Prime Minister received last week at his office a courtesy visit of the United States of America delegation led by Ms. Ann Milis Griffths, Executive Director of the National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in action in the Indochina War.
The delegation arrived on 19 March for six days working visit to Laos. At the talks, Ms. Ann Milis Griffths expressed thanks to the Lao government and people for their kind assistance and co-operation to find the remains of the US soldiers who missing in action during the Indochina war and asked the government of Laos to continue to provide such kind of co-operation in the future.
On this occasion, Mr. Somsavat praised and highly valued the visit to Laos of the US delegation as a big contribution to further strengthen the friendship relation and co-operation between Laos and USA. He also reaffirmed that the Lao government will continue to cooperate with the United States in the search for the remains of Americans missing in action. He also reaffirmed the Lao government’s constant and consistent policy on humanitarian affairs.
Earlier, Ms. Ann Milis Griffths called on Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and met with a number of Lao senior officials to discuss the co-operation in the future. The US delegation will also visit the northern provinces of Xiengkhouang and Houaphan.
