Ethiopia Presents Investment Opportunities to Qatari Businessmen
Doha, January 16 (QNA) - The Ethiopian investment forum organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in Doha kicked off on Wednesday to present the investment opportunities in Ethiopia and explore the economic and trade cooperation relations between the private sectors of both countries.
Attended by a number of Ethiopian and Qatari business, the Ethiopian side presented the investment opportunities available to Qatari businessmen in agriculture, manufacturing, services, medicines, building materials and others sectors.
Qatar Chamber's First vice-chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Tawar said Qatari businessmen are interested to know about investment opportunities found all over Africa, and especially in Ethiopia which has many promising opportunities in a number of sectors. He added that the chamber continuously holds meetings with the Ethiopian side to discuss establishing partnerships and alliances with the businessmen of both countries.
He added that Ethiopia has a good location in the Horn of Africa and is a gateway to a number of neighboring countries such as Sudan, Eritrea, Kenya and Djibouti. He said it is currently the right time to explore the expansion of diversified cooperation relations between the private sectors of both countries, which enhances trade exchange.
HE Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Qatar, Metasebia Tadesse Woldegiorgis said the Qatar-Ethiopian relations has seen excellence on all levels, and the economic relations are on its way to development in light of the interest given by both sides to identify joint cooperation fields. He called on the Qatari companies to explore the promising investment environment and learn about the incentives in Ethiopia.
Woldegiorgis valued Qatar Chamber's efforts to cooperate with Ethiopia to support the relations between businesses, deepen the communication between the business communities in both countries and work on finding partnerships to promote trade exchange between them. He also revealed working towards organizing a Qatari-Ethiopian business forum during the year.
Woldegiorgis held a presentation named Invest in Ethiopia showing that his country registered great growth during the recent years, thanks to the facilities the government provides to investors. These include exemption of income tax for more than 10 years and exemption from export taxes. He added that there is a developed infrastructure such as roads, transport, shipping, communications and other means that make Ethiopia a promising investment destination for foreign investors. (QNA)
