Johns Hopkins University delegation lauds BIPD’s experience

Manama, Jan. 19 (BNA): The Johns Hopkins University’s delegation has lauded the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD)’s experience and constructive political role, stressing the need to further develop that experience to enhance the level of the kingdom’s democratic awareness, being among the cornerstones of the comprehensive development process. This came as BIPD received here recently a delegation from the Johns Hopkins University’ School of Advanced International Studies. The delegation seeks to be informed about BIPD’s efforts to develop democratic awareness, and consolidate political participation, in light of the recent elections witnessed by Bahrain. BIPD highlighted its programmes and activities that target all segments of the Bahraini society, and their impact on enhancing political awareness and promoting the democratic culture among the members of the Bahraini society. While referring to the recent parliamentary and municipal elections in the kingdom, BIPD presented an in-depth analysis of the results of the polls, noting that the elections reflected the extent of the democratic progress reached by the kingdom, citing the success of Bahraini women in strengthening their status in the Legislative Branch and municipal councils. BIPD representatives said that their focus in the coming period would be on supporting the positive contribution of all social segments to efforts to develop the political process in the kingdom and increasing democratic gains under the Reform Project spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
