Thailand's mango and sticky rice set hits new Guinness Book of world record
BANGKOK, January 21 (TNA) - Over 10,000 Chinese tourists have enjoyed the taste of a giant 4.5 ton-Thai mango and sticky rice set that has hit a new Guinness Book of world record.
The world's now largest 4.5 ton-set of mango and sticky rice was specially served to the visiting Chinese tourists at the "We Care About You" event, jointly organized by the state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and its private partners at the IMPACT Lakeside in Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok during 4pm-10 pm on January 20.
The highlights of the 4.5 ton-set of mango and sticky rice were its original Thai cuisine, developed by ML Terb Jumsai, who is one of Thailand's legendary cooking champions, and its premium-graded ingredients, including some 5,000 wellknown Barracuda mango from the country's Chachoengsao, Ratchaburi and Nakhon Ratchasima Provinces.
During the six hour-grand event, the visiting Chinese tourists also enjoyed other varieties of famous Thai food, fruit and dessert demonstrated and offered for sale at a number of booths, together with a mini music concert performed by Mimi Lee, a Thai female singer who earlier won a prize at the Produce 101 China competition.
The "We Care About You" event was also believed to bring about more solid relationship between Thailand and China and their nationals through the rising number of Chinese tourist arrivals in the Thai Kingdom and vice versa.
Meanwhile, Thai Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan received at Sunday's event, on the behalf of the whole nation, the certificate on the world's new record of largest set of mango and sticky rice from a representative of the Guinness Book of Record.
In 2016, a 2.9 ton-set of mango and sticky rice, prepared in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates, previously hit the Guinness Book of world record. (TNA)
