First woman president at Bahrain Journalists Association

Manama, Jan. 26 (BNA): Ahdiya Ahmed made history after she was elected as the first woman president of Bahrain Journalists Association. Ahdeya, the deputy editor-in-chief of Daily Tribune, received 71 votes while her only competitor in the biennial election Youssef Albinkhalil, the editor-in-Chief of Al Watan, got 67, indicating that the contest was very close. In fact, suspense gripped the journalists who gathered at the hall to monitor the results of the elections for the presidency. The journalists also elected the eight members of the board of the association established in 2001 for all journalists based in Bahrain regardless of their nationality.
