Malaysia Agro Wants To Penetrate Japanese Halal Market

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 (Bernama) -- The 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be used as a platform for 300,000 Malaysia Agro Entrepreneurs Association (MAEA) members to make plans from now on to penetrate the Japanese halal market which will assuredly continue to go up after the sports festival. MAEA president, G. Gnanaraja said the demand for halal food would surely be high during and after the Olympic Games following the influx of Muslim tourists. He said the Malaysia Halal Food Expo (MHE 2019) which ended Saturday gave the opportunity to MAEA members to gather information and knowledge from other entrepreneurs in order to penetrate the Japanese halal market. MAEA had adopted the expo, themed "Malaysia to Japan for 2020 Olympics" which ended Saturday, to commence greater effort so that all entrepreneurs did not miss out on the opportunity to trade in the country of the rising run. The 2020 Olympic Games in Japan targeted the entry of 40 million tourists with some of them comprising Muslim tourists. ‘’I will make sure MAEA will not miss out on the golden opportunity to penetrate the halal market there and this expo will be the beginning in the exploration of a bigger halal market in Japan after this. And it can expand our entreprenuers’ network especially to the international market,’’ he told Bernama after visiting the expo at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Saturday. He said MHE 2019 was the result of the continuation of the Malaysia-Japan memorandum of co-operation related to halal (food) signed on Nov 26. -- BERNAMA
