Electricity Minister visits Representatives Council

Manama, Jan. 28 (BNA): In accordance with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, to activate further cooperation and coordination between the legislative and executive authorities, Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza met at the Representatives Council with Chairman of the Committee of Public Utilities and Environment Abdul Razzaq Abdullah Hattab and its members. The minister briefed them on Bahrain’s achievements in renewable energy and energy efficiency and the projects that have been implemented in this area as well as the progress that has been made. Dr. Mirza said it is important to ensure that the legislative authority is informed of such information, plans and projects related to renewable energy to have a clear and integrated picture of this vital sector and the steps that have been taken on the directives of the leadership towards implementation of renewable energy and energy efficiency plans under his chairmanship and the membership of senior officials from all relevant ministries and government bodies in addition to the United Nations Development Programme and the Sustainable Energy Unit. The minister also praised the efforts made of the members of the Representatives Council to discuss issues affecting the interest of citizens, expressing the effectiveness of cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities in achieving the aspirations of citizens and improving the quality and efficiency of the services provided. The members of the committee praised the efforts of the minister and officials in the electricity, water and sustainable energy sector in seeking and working to improve the quality of services and access to excellence, stressing that enhancing the means of communication and continuous meetings between the executive and legislative would result in several developmental aspects that the Bahraini citizen aspires for.
