Royal keenness to boost tolerance, peaceful coexistence stressed

Manama, Feb. 7 (BNA): Board of Trustees Chairman of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said launching the King Hamad Chair for Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence at Sapienza University, in Italy, emanates from a royal keenness to raise the youth’s awareness and fight ignorance in order to boost tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Dr. Shaikh Khalid was speaking as he received a Jordanian youth delegation from “Haqeq” (achieve) initiative of the office of Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Al-Hussain bin Abdullah II of Jordan. The Jordanian delegation is on an official visit to Bahrain to avail of the Bahraini experiences and expertise. Dr. Shaikh Khalid stressed that education and raising awareness is a priority of the centre to groom a generation of youngsters aware of humanitarian values. He shed light on tolerance and peaceful coexistence which have ever characterised Bahrain since the establishment of the state in 1762. He also underlined the unflinching keenness of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to preserve those values, pointing out that the Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration and the establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence are a coronation of those efforts which reflect a farsighted royal vision to set a framework for a humanitarian approach in tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
