Thai Raksa Chart Party Says to Accept HM the King's Command

BANGKOK, Feb 9 (TNA) -- Thai Raksa Chart Party on Saturday said it would "graciously accepts" HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn's command and would abide by election regulations and royal tradition. Thanking Princess Ubolratana for her kindness to the party which is contesting in the general elections scheduled for March 24, the official statement issued by the party said it is prepared to respect decisions of the people under the democratic system in order to achieve prosperity for Thailand. The party early on Friday, the last day for registration of party candidates, nominated Princess Ubolratana, elder sister of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, as its sole prime ministerial candidate. But King Maha Vajiralongkorn issued a Royal Statement, saying that the nomination contravened the present Constitution, forbidding Royal family members to get involved in politics and they must also stay neutral. In his message late on Friday, King Maha Vajiralongkorn said his elder sister's candidacy nomination was "inappropriate" and it was against the spirit of the constitution for royalty to be involved in politics.
