Lecture on Shaikha Hessa’s award for youth voluntary work held

Manama, Feb. 9 (BNA): The National Centre for NGO's Support at the Ministry of Labour and Social Development held, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), held an introductory meeting on the Shaikha Hessa bint Salman Al Khalifa’s Award for Youth Voluntary Work. The equal opportunities’s specialist at the SCW, Daij Al-Amer, highlighted, during his lecture, the main goals of the award. The award aims mainly to promote the culture of voluntary work among youth as well as its moral value as national and humanitarian obligation, develop the role of individuals and groups in achieving accomplishment, innovation and sustainability of voluntary work projects, consolidate the spirit of fair competition among youth in the field of voluntary work and highlight youth initiatives and projects aimed at serving society. Al-Amer also said that nominees for the award should be Bahrainis aged between 18 and 35, and that collective artistic works should be supported by an educational institution, a university or a civil society organisation. He also asserted that the fields of the award include the “Best voluntary work on individual level” and the “Best voluntary work on group level”.
