MAHB Records 3.1 Pct Growth In Passenger Movement In January

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has recorded 11.1 million passenger movements in January 2019, including Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen international Airport (SGIA) in Turkey, a 3.1 per cent growth over the corresponding period last year. The airport operator said the international sector registered 2.5 per cent growth with 5.4 million passenger movements in January 2019 while the domestic sector grew 3.6 per cent, registering 5.7 million passengers. “On a 12-month basis, the total MAHB network of airports grew 3.7 per cent, registering 133.5 million passenger movements, the highest to-date,” it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia Monday. MAHB said passenger movements at airports in Malaysia grew 3.2 per cent in January 2019, registering 8.4 million passengers, while domestic and international passenger movements grew by 7.1 per cent and 0.004 per cent to 3.9 million and 4.4 million passengers, respectively. “Istanbul SGIA recorded 2.8 million passenger movements, a growth of 2.6 per cent in January 2019. International passenger movements grew 15.4 per cent with 1.0 million passengers while domestic passenger movements declined 3.2 per cent with 1.8 million passengers,” it added. Meanwhile, MAHB said overall aircraft movements decreased by 0.5 per cent in January while international and domestic aircraft movements decreased 0.7 and 0.3 per cent, respectively, compared with January 2018. -- BERNAMA
