Champassak doubles export in the first quarter

(KPL) The export in the first quarter of 2008-2009 fiscal year of Champassak province was increased by two times over the same period last year, valued at 5.5 million US dollars.
The main export of the province is coffee and agriculture produce, produced under the Contract Farming cooperation between the province and its Thai counterpart Oubonrasthany.
Mr. Somboun Vongkhamla, Deputy Head of Commerce and Industry Service of Champassak said last week that in the first quarter the province exported 887 tones of coffee, which was valued at 1.3 million US dollars, and agriculture produce (2.6 million US dollars), wood processed products (825.702 US dollars), manufactured products (117.139 US dollars) and non-timber-forest product (438.009 US dollars.
Champassak’s import in the first three months of this fiscal year was worth 11.9 million US dollars. The imported goods are construction materials, machinery for agriculture production, household utensils, vehicle spare parts and oil and gas, which share around 40 per cent of the import.
