Interior Minister attends RAP master’s degree graduation ceremony

Manama, Feb. 19 (BNA): Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa today attended the graduation ceremony for of 76 graduates as part of the fourth batch of master’s degree students of the Royal Academy of Police (RAP).
The academy offers two master’s degree programmes; criminal and police science and administration and security science, along with master’s degree in English language in cooperation with the University of Huddersfield, in which the ceremony also witnessed the graduation of the first batch of the programme. The event was also attended by the British Ambassador and senior Interior Ministry officials.
The minister asserted that the Ministry would continue to develop the skills of its manpower in accordance with the latest international education and training standards. He hailed the pioneering role of RAP in training and drafting curricular to meet security changes and challenges.
He highlighted the importance of RAP Master’s degree programmes, including the one introduced in cooperation with the University of Huddersfield as part of the specialised programmes that contribute in building the capabilities of police personnel and increase their ability to deal with security changes and challenges within well-studied scientific and training curriculum. He asserted that investment in humans was a crucial factor in the modernisation and development process to get ready to deal with new situations with discipline and performance accuracy.
It is worth mentioning, RAP has signed many Memorandums of Understanding with local and international universities, and their fruitful results include teaching a master’s degree programme of the University of Huddersfield for the Interior Ministry officers in English. A total of 26 of 76 graduates completed the one-year programme.
During the ceremony, Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan delivered a speech, in which he welcomed HE Interior Minister, praising his supportive role in the education and training development of RAP. He said that the modernisation and development process that was launched 14 years back continues for the success of the security efforts in tackling various crimes. He noted that the use of scientific methods, the use of modern technology and artificial intelligence and research are essential to fight crimes. The ceremony included a documentary on RAP master’s degree programmes.
Deputy President of the University of Huddersfield for Scientific Research and Projects, Andrew Paul congratulated in his speech the graduates and hailed their hard work. He hoped that more batches would be graduated from the programme in the future. He highlighted that Huddersfield was an international university with more than 3000 oversee students.
After that, the Interior Minister honoured the graduates and congratulated them for their excellent results. He also expressed thanks to the administration and training teams of RAP and the faculty of the Huddersfield University. He wished them all the best.
