Electricity Minister receives Indian ambassador

Manama, Feb. 19 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha and praised the relations between the two countries, especially after the auspicious visit of His Majesty King Hamad to India and His Majesty's directives to increase trade and economic ties between the two countries.
They discussed technical and legal procedures for Bahrain joining as a partner in the India-based International Solar Energy Alliance after it was approved by the Council of Ministers. The alliance aims to address challenges facing the expansion of solar energy.
The minister said the alliance is an important platform for cooperation between countries in the fields of sustainable and clean energy and contributes to Bahrain achieving its international commitments.
The ambassador expressed thanks and appreciation to Dr. Mirza for his warm welcome and congratulated him on Bahrain’s decision to join this important international alliance. He said it would be an advanced step towards achieving the objectives of comprehensive sustainable development and increasing ties between the two friendly countries.
The ambassador stressed the readiness of his country to help strengthen the existing cooperation in the electricity, water and renewable energy sectors to serve the interests and aspirations of the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Acting Executive Director of the Sustainable Energy Unit Alexander Samahiji.
