Three allied nations join forces with Thailand against drugs

BANGKOK, February 20 (TNA) - Australia, China and Singapore have agreed to join forces with Thailand against narcotics through shared information and advanced technologies. Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong told journalists of the agreement on Wednesday, after opening a seminar in Bangkok on building up the efficiency of drug testing and detecting personnel in which representatives of the three allied nations took part. "Under the agreement, Australia, China and Singapore will share relevant information, knowledge and advanced technologies with Thailand on detecting the sources of chemical compounds and the production of narcotics for the purposes of cracking down on drug producers and traffickers", the deputy prime minister said. The Thai deputy premier explained that the agreement was in response to more complicated techniques of drug production currently with many new chemical precursors which have never been recorded in the regional database, making the drug testing and detecting cooperation through shared information and advanced technologies become a key mechanism against transnational drug producing and trafficking networks. According to the Thai deputy prime minister, the agreed cooperation will also pave the way for the establishment of a regional center for testing and detecting drug compounds and production sources in Thailand in the future.
