NTT Partners With Megaport To Extend Multicloud Connectivity To Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- NTT MSC Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Communication, has partnered with Megaport Singapore Pte Ltd to launch NexConnect Cloud Service to bring direct multicloud connectivity to Malaysian enterprises.
NTT said NexConnect Cloud Service would enable enterprises to connect to various cloud service providers such as Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Service, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, IBM Cloud, Salesforce, and Oracle Cloud.
This is done via NTT’s network Point of Presence in its data centres in Cyberjaya, as well as through Megaport’s Software Defined Network, a private, secure, and low latency connection, the global ICT provider in Malaysia said.
"NexConnect also offers enterprises the ability to have better traffic control between cloud providers, as well as reduce hardware costs by elastically scaling resources without requiring additional dedicated routers," it said in a statement Thursday.
NTT MSC Chief executive officer Taichi Hiramatsu said technology is rapidly progressing globally, specifically in automation and cloud services.
"Malaysia represents an opportunity to increase our presence in the market. NexConnect Cloud Service allows enterprises to bypass the obstacles that impede them from enjoying the benefits of multi-cloud computing adoption.
"NTT MSC aims to become the data exchange infrastructure provider in Malaysia. Our partnership with Megaport further consolidates our presence here in Malaysia as we can help enterprises enjoy secure connectivity to multi-cloud platforms," he said.
The company said demand for cloud services in the country has been increasing as Malaysian enterprises move towards a more digitalised environment to remain competitive in their respective industry.
However, a single cloud service environment in today’s world may not suffice as it might not suit the needs and requirements of businesses from various industries, it said.
Citing a November 2017 survey by 451 Research, NTT said it showed that 69 per cent of enterprises would operate in multi-cloud or hybrid IT environments by 2019.
With a five-year compound annual growth rate of 19 per cent, the research expects the cloud service market to reach US$53.3 billion in 2021, it said.
Meanwhile, NTT Communication said its latest collaboration in Malaysia charted the company’s growth across Asia Pacific, namely Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
Enterprises within these regions are now recognising the significance of integrating cloud services within their IT infrastructure, it said.
The local presence of NTT services within the region allows companies to address local market demand and potential, while leveraging NTT’s strength and capabilities, it added.
