President promotes socio-economic development in Khammouane
(KPL) President Choummaly Sayasone visited Khammouane province to promote socio-economic development from 19 to 20 March.
Mr. Choummaly Sayasone was warmly welcomed by the governor of Khammouane province, Mr. Khambai Damlath, and local people.
During his visit, Mr. Choummaly saw for himself the construction of Sykhottabong Cultural Park and 21 March Park.
On its completion, the Park will have two monuments, one for former president Souphanouvong and the other for unknown soldiers, who died in combat during the 21 March battle.
Then he visited the construction site of the 3rd Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge, located in Veunthai village, Thakhek district, Khammouane province, and when completed it will provide a seamless linkage between Khammouane province of Laos and Nakhonephanom province of Thailand.
The contractor of the bridge is the Italian-Thai Development Limited Company, which would be constructing the 780 m long, 13 m wide and 10 m high bridge at a cost of 1,761 million Thai baht over a period of 36 months, so that its completion date is 2012.
