South Korean ambassador lauds relations with Bahrain

Manama, Feb. 28 (BNA): South Korea's Ambassador to Bahrain Koo Hyunmo said that relations between the Kingdom and South Korea have been very strong and distinct since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1976.
“These relations have developed well and of course we look forward to strengthening these relations towards better prospects this year 2019,” he said.
In the economic field, the volume of trade exchange between the two countries is around $700 million, including petroleum products that are Bahrain's largest exports to Korea, he added.
The ambassador expected to conclude a tender for renewable energy in the Askar region at the end of this month, in which a Korean company will lead a consortium of companies.
The diplomat made the statement as he donated Korean food supply for people in need through Tree of Life Society.
The society’s chairman, Khalil Al Daylami, stressed the importance of the ambassador’s donation worth BD1,700 to help 480 individuals , including 563 orphans, 235 widows and 88 families.
Abdulhussain Khalil Dawani, Chairman of Al Jazira group who also attended the ceremony, praised the ambassador’s support for the society, pointing out his facilitation to import Korean products in Al Jazira supermarkets.
"This initiative is the first of its kind, and I am ready to pursue this charitable project aimed at helping the needy in Bahrain,” the diplomat said.
Ambassador Koo and Dawani commended the charity’s effort to provide services to people in need, hoping that the contribution made by the Korean embassy and Al Jazira group would make a meaningful addition to its endeavour.
