Young Entrepreneurs Urged To Engage With Ministry
KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 (Bernama) -- Young entrepreneurs should actively engage the Entrepreneur Development Ministry and its related agencies for assistance to widen their businesses beyond the local market.
Its Minister Redzuan Yusof said the ministry, through its agencies, was always ready to help the young entrepreneurs, especially those who are starting out and desiring to develop their businesses in the country and the region.
“Don’t wait for us (agencies) to reach out to you (entrepreneurs). You must be pro-active and look for us to assist your businesses. At the agencies, we have the proper training and methods to help you boost your business further,” he told reporters after giving the keynote address at the Malaysia-ASEAN Entrepreneurs Day 2019 here Tuesday.
Redzuan said the ministry would be the bridge for entrepreneurs to obtain the best facilities and training to grow their businesses.
Earlier in his speech, the minister said young entrepreneurs, particularly from the ASEAN region, should be more vigilant and robust, and seize the opportunity offered in the latest exponential technological trends such as big data, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence to thrive in Tuesday’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“For Malaysian young entrepreneurs particularly, I urge you to explore this opportunity and to connect with your fellow entrepreneurs in the region, beginning with the ASEAN delegates in attendance Tuesday.
“Future-ready and future-proof entrepreneurs must venture beyond their comfort zone and boldly embrace opportunities arising out of these new emerging technologies,” he said.
Jointly organised by the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (MED) and the Malaysian Association of ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs, the one-day event saw close to 250 participants from ASEAN countries actively engaging in a number of lively discussions at the forum.
The entrepreneurs attending the forum are members of the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurship Council, the private sector wing for entrepreneurs below 45 years old in the ASEAN Economic Community, comprising Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The findings from the forum will be taken into account by MED, in relation to the ministry’s ongoing work in drafting the National Policy on Entrepreneurship.
