Capital Governor opens Traffic Village

Manama, Mar. 7 (BNA): Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa inaugurated today the Traffic village held at the Avenues Mall by the General Directorate of Traffic to mark the Traffic Week held from March 7 to 16. He lauded the directives of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to hold more awareness campaigns to encourage road users to follow traffic safety. He also hailed the efforts of the General Directorate of Traffic in enforcing the law and interacting with all segments in the society to ensure their safety. He thanked the sponsors of the Traffic Week. The Director-General of Traffic Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa said that to mark the occasion, the department has set comprehensive traffic plans to meet the directives of the Interior Minister and associate all authorities and the NGOs to enhance traffic safety of drivers and pedestrians and achieve community partnership. He said that the Traffic Week was an opportunity to remind the public of the importance to follow traffic rules and be responsible through preventing serious accidents. The village consists of 19 education, entertainment and traffic services sections for the public, along with a host of programmes and events.
