Bahrain's human rights strides stressed

Manama, Mar. 14 (BNA): Representatives Council Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal lauded Bahrain's big strides in protecting human rights and freedom of expression. She praised the key role of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) in this regard, stressing keenness of the Representatives Council to develop legislation to boost human rights. The Representatives Council Speaker was speaking as she received today NIHR President Maria Khouri. She stressed that protecting human rights for Bahrain is an unwavering approach and a noble goal of the comprehensive national development march. It is also a national fundamental representing one of the dividends of the reform project of HM the King, she added. The NIHR President commended the role of the legislative branch in fostering human rights and ensuring harmony between national legislation and international conventions signed by Bahrain to promote human rights achievements.
