HM King visits Turkmen Carpet Museum

Ashgabat, Mar. 19 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, here today, accompanied by Turkmenistan's Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Rashid Meredov, paid a visit to the Turkmen Carpet Museum. HM the King was received upon arrival by Director Maya Ashirova and Hussein Huseynov. He was taken on a tour of the museum and briefed by Huseynov on the history of the museum and techniques used to weave the Turkmen carpets that represent an important part of Turkmenistan's cultural heritage. HM the King was also briefed on Turkmenistan’s largest carpet in the world, which was registered in the Guinness World Records Book, and the pieces of carpets used to cover the back of horses and camels. HM the King wrote in the museum's guestbook that he admired the Turkmen history and the government’s interest in the heritage, culture and folklore. He wished them durable success. HM the King was presented with a commemorative gift.
