ABDULLAH KEEPS EVERYONE GUESSING ON POWER TRANSITION DATE
KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 (Bernama) -- Abdullah Ahmad Badawi continues to keep everyone guessing on the date he will hand over the post of prime minister to Najib Razak under the power transition plan
agreed to by both of them.
At a news conference during the ongoing Umno General Assembly 2008 here, a
cheerful Abdullah said he would announce the date when he wished to do so.
"You do not have to ask me that (the date for the transition of power). I
will let you know," he said.
It had been reported that under the transition plan, Najib would take over
as the prime minister this month after the United Malays National Organization
(Umno) General Assembly.
Abdullah was also asked to comment on Foreign Minister Dr Rais
Yatim's statement that all ministers in his (Abdullah's) Cabinet were deemed to
have resigned when the prime minister himself stepped down.
Even former Cabinet minister Dr Lim Keng Yaik had said that, he said,
adding that it was something that could not be forced on anyone.
