Global Turbine Asia, Europrop Ink AMO License Agreement

By Mohd Khairy Idham Amran LANGKAWI (Kedah, Malaysia) March 26 (Bernama) -- Aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul service provider Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (Global Turbine) has signed an approved maintenance organisation (AMO) license agreement with European engine manufacturer Europrop International GmbH (EPI). Global Turbine said the agreement paved the way for the company to bid for maintenance activities of TP400-D6 engines used in the Airbus A400M transport aircraft. “The AMO allows Global Turbine Asia to perform Level one and Level two (on-base) maintenance on TP400-D6 engines, the highest level attainable outside an original equipment manufacturer's workshop," it said in a statement Tuesday. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and held in conjunction with the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace 2019 (LIMA’19) exhibition which begins today until March 30, at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre and Resort World Langkawi. Global Turbine said the agreement also marked the first time EPI relied on a foreign third party to carry out maintenance activities on its engine. Last year, the company attained European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 145 certification for the TP400-D6 engine, making it the first non-European company to achieve the mandatory certification standard for military equipment. “With the Airbus A400M and its TP400-D6 engine holding EASA certificates, the European agency’s recognition is mandatory for any company seeking to become part of the TP400 ecosystem,” it said. Global Turbine said being EASA Part 145 certified and a Europrop approved maintenance organisation for the TP400-D6 were key pre-requisites to be able to provide direct support to the company’s long-time customer, the Royal Malaysian Airforce (RMAF). “RMAF is a strategic user of the TP400-D6 in the Asia-Pacific region where Global Turbine Asia aims to extend their footprint,” it said. -- BERNAMA
