HRH Premier receives Thai university president

Manama, Mar. 27 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has highlighted the kingdom’s keenness to strengthen its cooperation ties with friendly Thailand in all fields, especially education, through exchanging expertise and taking advantage of the Thai distinguished prestigious educational and academic institutions. HRH Premier stressed that the development of the educational sector is an essential policy adopted by countries seeking progress, noting that Bahrain is keen to enhance its cooperation in this regard with countries with pioneering educational experiences, including friendly Thailand. HRH Premier made the statements while receiving, at the Gudaibiya Palace today, the President of the Thai Prince of Songkla University, Ass. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, who is currently on a visit to the kingdom, along with an academic and administrative delegation from the same university. HRH the Prime Minister welcomed the visit of the Prince of Songkla University President, expressing hope that it will contribute to deepening and broadening the distinguished joint cooperation ties for the best interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples. HRH Premier lauded the Prince of Songkla University, noting that it boasts prominent academic competencies, which, he said, has entitled it to be among the leading universities at the regional and global levels. HRH Premier highlighted the importance of science and culture in achieving rapprochement and understanding among peoples and countries, noting that the kingdom is keen to develop the educational sector according to the latest international systems so as to increase its contributions to its development efforts. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of scientific research in supporting various development sectors, particularly the health and medical ones, calling for strengthening cooperation between the academic institutions in the two countries in the scientific fields that are aimed at improving the quality of health and medical services delivered in the two friendly countries. Prince of Songkla University President expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for his interest in broadening cooperation fields between the two countries, recalling with pride the Prince of Songkla University’s granting the Honorary Doctorate in Political Sciences to HRH the Prime Minister in 2009, in recognition of his achievements in the field of sustainable development, as well as for consolidating the efforts of the International Community regarding peace, security and cooperation. He stressed that HRH the Prime Minister has a prudent vision vis-à-vis all regional and global issues, which, he said, reflects his long experience that significantly contributed to Bahrain’s progress and consolidated its foreign relations based on mutual understanding and respects. He also lauded Bahrain’s progress and renaissance in the field of education.
