Bahraini women's strides praised

Paris, Mar. 28 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Undersecretary Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, currently on an official visit to the French Republic, today met in Paris the Head of the French-Bahraini Friendship Group, Patrice Perrot. Dr. Shaikha Rana reviewed the friendly relations between Bahrain and France, which are witnessing constant progress and expressed the keen desire of the Kingdom of Bahrain to bolster its bilateral cooperation and joint coordination with the French Republic for the benefit of the two friendly countries and peoples. The undersecretary praised the efforts made by the Kingdom of Bahrain to advance the status of women and ascribed this progress to the role undertaken by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), led by Supreme Council of Women (SCW)'s President and Wife of HM the King, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa. She commended HRH Princess Sabeeka’s vision on women advancement and her awareness of the relevant international laws, conventions and treaties, hailing Bahraini experience and record achievements in empowering women as unique and worth emulating in the region. For her part, Patrice Perrot expressed her pride in meeting with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressing the French Republic's keenness to develop its bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain in various fields. Perrot recalled her participation as a speaker at the International Conference on the Role of Women's Political Participation, held under the patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka in November last year. She also expressed her happiness that a woman was elected as President of the Council of Representatives in the Kingdom of Bahrain, admiring the efforts made by the Kingdom at women empowerment and urban development levels, wishing Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
