Int'l tourists welcome to Thailand's Songkran Festival 2019

BANGKOK, April 5 (TNA) - The state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will organize and support activities marking the Songkran Festival 2019 in many areas in the country in mid-April, in which international tourists are all welcome. TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn made the announcement at a press conference held in Bangkok on April 4, saying that TAT will organize Songkran activities in Tak Province in the Lower Thai North, in Mukdahan Province in the Thai Northeast and in Ranong Province in the Thai South, aimed to promote and uphold the traditional Thai culture and attract international tourists to more different Thai tourist destinations. According to the TAT governor, the "Amazing Songkran 2019 @ Tak" will be organized in Tak, the "MUK-SAVAN Fun & Fin Festival 2019" will be organized in Mukdahan, and the "Mineral Water Songkran" will be organized in Ranong. "In Tak, the Songkran activities will be held at the Thai Wattanaram Temple and the Mae Sot Stadium, where local cultural shows will be included among others. In Mukdahan, the Songkran activities will be held at Hat Manopirom, where, among others, sand sculptures of attractive Thai tourist sites in five regions will be on public display, including a local temple in Mukdahan that international visitors can pay respect to the Buddha's footprint and look on a giant image of the King of Nagas, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in the northern Chiang Mai Province, a giant dragon park and museum in the central Suphan Buri Province, the Puek Tian Beach Statue with a variety of fruits in the eastern Rayong Province and Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan in the southern Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. In Ranong, the Songkran activities will be held at the Muang Municipality, including a man-made tunnel that sacred mineral water will be served to visitors", the TAT governor stated. Besides, TAT will support Songkran activities to be organized in Bangkok and 11 other provinces, including Samut Prakan, Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Chon Buri, Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Nakhon Phanom, Nong Khai, Phuket and Songkhla Provinces. The Thai government has announced public holidays marking the Songkran, or the Traditional Thai New Year, Festival 2019 from April 12 to April 17. (TNA)
