VP: CONSTRUCTION OF LOMBOK TOURIST RESORT TO START IN MAY

Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, March 29 (ANTARA) - Vice President M Jusuf Kalla on Sunday instructed relevant agencies to start the construction of the Lombok tourist resort in May 2009.

"By the end of April all administrative problems can be resolved so that the physical construction (of Lombok tourist resort) will start in May," he said following a meeting at Selaparang airport in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara province.

The vice president said he had three times come to Lombok to check preparations for the construction of the tourist resort and Lombok international airport.

Also present at the meeting were Transportation Minister Jusman Syafei Djamal, State Enterprises Minister Sofyan Jalil, Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) Joyo Winoto, President Director of State Electricity Company PT PLN Fachmi Muchtar, Director General of Highway Construction and Maintenance Hermanto Dardak, President Director of State Airport Operator PT Angkasa Pura I Bambang Darwoto and West Nusa Tenggara Governor Tuan Guru Muhammad Zainal Majdi.

At the meeting, the vice president asked questions about a number of obstacles to the construction of the tourist resort including land clearance.

One of the obstacles dealt with value added tax on land for the construction of the tourist resort, he said. "Hopefully, the problem can be resolved late April."
He said during the meeting he phoned Minister/State Secretary Hatta Radjasa and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati to check a government regulation on value added tax on the land in question.

He hoped that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono would sign the regulation before leaving for London to attend the G20 summit of rich and emerging countries on April 1 and 2.
